Best Student Paper Awards

A student paper competition will be held during the EORSA 2016.

Students opt for this competition must submit an abstract by January 25, 2016, through the following web site:

and full paper by May 1, 2016.

A student must be the first author of the paper; register for the conference no later than March 25th, 2016; and present the paper at the conference in person, if the paper is accepted and included in the student paper competition session(s).

The winners of the competition will receive a certificate and modest amount of prize.

GEO Travel Funds

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO), in conjunction with the local organizers, will provide up to 10 travel grants for students and young researchers (not older than 35 year as of January 2016) coming from developing countries. Each selected awardee will provide a presentation during the conference. Submitted papers will be evaluated by the program committee according to the stipulated procedures. The recipients will receive free registration and food (worth approximately $500) for the conference, as well as a sum of $500 to cover flight ticket / living expenses during the event.

Applicants for travel funds should write a brief email to Prof. Guangxing Wang, Southern Illinois University - Carbondale ( indicating his/her needs (such as a rough budget) and should reside in developing countries (excluding the host country); have no or insufficient funds from other sources to support their participation; present a paper at the event; and include a letter of acceptance of a full paper from the conference's Program Committee. Those individuals who have obtained partial financial support from their organizations will receive a higher priority.

Applications should be sent to Prof. Wang by March 15th, 2016.

The outcome of application will be sent to each applicant by April 1st, 2016. Payments will be made to the recipients at the conference site only.


Student Volunteer Opportunities

Students who wish to help during the conference for various tasks may contact one of the following people. In particular, student volunteers may have access to all technical sessions and free meal tickets, or receive partial waiver of the registration fee if you are a presenter of the conference.
